Laetitia and Alexandre were very responsive to our messages, providing detailed explanations and instructions for a smooth arrival.

Their cozy little nest is adorable, spotless, and very well insulated with roller shutters and blackout double curtains. A lovely touch awaited us upon arrival: coffee and tea pods and little madeleines 🙏.

Thank you also for the documentation of your beautiful region and the little places to visit or eat.

Laurent and I recommend you and we will certainly return.

What to do in Chartres in a weekend?

2-day itinerary in the heart of a charming city

Planning a weekend in Chartres? Excellent idea! Located just an hour from Paris, Chartres is the perfect destination for a two-day getaway packed with heritage, cultural discoveries, and relaxation. Here's our ready-made itinerary to help you make the most of your stay in this iconic city of the Eure-et-Loir region.

Day 1: Immersing yourself in the historic heart of Chartres

Morning: Visit to Chartres Cathedral. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Chartres Cathedral is one of the finest examples of Gothic art in France. Its architecture, 13th-century stained-glass windows, and mystical labyrinth fascinate visitors of all ages. 👉 Tip: Climb the tower for a panoramic view of the entire city.

Lunch on a terrace in the city centre. Enjoy the charming cobbled streets and settle into one of the many restaurants around Place Billard or Rue des Changes to savor local cuisine.

Afternoon: Strolling through the city center and visiting museums

  • Take a stroll through the historic Lower Town districts, along the Eure river.
  • Visit the Maison Picassiette, a unique work of outsider art entirely decorated with mosaics.
  • Discover the Museum of Fine Arts, located right next to the cathedral.

Evening: Chartres in Lights. From April to October, the city lights up every evening: monuments, bridges, and buildings are transformed into light shows. A free walking tour, magical at nightfall!

Day 2: Nature, relaxation and unusual discoveries

Morning: Stroll through the Eure Riverbanks Park. Ideal for a family or couple's walk, this park invites you to relax by the water. You can rent a pedal boat or simply have a picnic in the shade of the trees.

Family option: the little tourist train or the Odyssey

  • The little train takes you on a guided tour of the city.
  • L'Odyssée is the largest aquatic complex in France, perfect for a relaxing break with children or teenagers.

Lunch in a rural setting. Opt for an inn or a riverside café along the Eure for an authentic and friendly experience.

Afternoon: Shopping and local crafts. Don't leave without visiting the Maison du Saumon, the tourist office and local craft shop. Ceramics, soaps, local beers… everything you need to take home a quality souvenir.
